RULES OF COMPETITION - LEAGUES PROGRAMMES A & B
80.a (i) The competition shall be called THE CLUB SWIMMING COMPETITION. Programme 'A' will be organised into two separate Divisions by the Hon. Swimming Secretary and will incorporate a two club Promotion and Relegation. Programme 'B' format will be decided by the Hon. Swimming Secretary after all entries have been received.
80.a (ii) The league competition shall run from 1st January to 31st August. Dates for the finals, which are additional competitions, are to be organised by the Hon. Swimming Secretary. If a competition has six or less clubs entering then the final may be held on a date suitable to all participating clubs. In the event that no mutual date can be agreed, the Hon Swimming Secretary will arrange the date.
80.b (i) Profit or loss from a gala will be the responsibility of the home club. The maximum admission fee which may be charged shall be determined annually by the Annual General Meeting (currently £2.00 as per AGM 2009). The Association will sponsor any finals.
80.b (ii) Should any arranged preliminary gala in either Programme 'A', Programme 'B', Team Competition or Autumn League, have to be cancelled by the host club, then the host club MUST rearrange the fixture date within 28 days of the notice of cancellation. The host club must inform in writing, all the other clubs in the group, the Match Referee, the Hon. Swimming Secretary and the Association's Hon. Secretary, of the agreed revised date.
80.c (i) The competition will use two programmes:

80.c (ii) Ages of swimmers shall be as on 30th September in year of competition.80.c (iii) Distances swam shall be:
L is one length, not less than 25 yards or more than 36 2/3rd yards.
2L is two lengths, not less than 50 yards, or more than 73 1/3rd yards.
4L is four lengths, not less than 100 yards, or more than 110 yards.
Programme A, 1 boy and 1 girl from each age group, six in all, each swimmer one length free style.
Programme B, 2 boys and 2 girls from each age group, eight in all, each swimmer two lengths free style.
The teams will swim alternately Girl Boy starting with youngest age group.
1st: 4pts 2nd: 3pts 3rd: 2pts 4th:1pt.
irrespective of how many teams are competing.80.d (ii) The event points shall be accumulated throughout the season to determine the finalists.
80.d (iii) In the event of a tie on accumulated points the greater number of first places gained in the HEATS will determine the finalists.. In the event of a tie on accumulated points in the FINAL then the clubs concerned will be declared joint winners, or runners up. This rule change to relate to ALL SWIMMING LEAGUE COMPETITIONS,
80.d (iii) If two swimmers dead heat then both shall receive the same number of points: e.g. In a gala with 5 teams competing: Tied first 55321 ; Second 54421 ; Third 54331 ; Fourth 54322.
80.e (i) The six clubs having the highest number of points in Division 1 shall compete in the "Major Final".
The six clubs having the next highest points in Division 2 shall compete in the "Minor Final".
The Club winning the Boys Event of Programme A shall receive:-
The Junior Boys Trophy (A. Jackson Cup).
The Club winning the Girls Events of Programme A shall
The Junior Girls Trophy (Harry Stock Memorial Trophy).
The Club winning the Gents Events in Programme B shall receive:-
The Senior Gentlemen's Trophy (William Beattie Memorial Cup).
The Club winning the Ladies Events in Programme B shall receive:-
The Senior Ladies Trophy (Hon. Secretary's Majority Cup E. P. Gaul).
The Points scored in the Cannon Relays shall not be counted toward the above four trophies.
80.e (iv) The winning Boys and Girls teams, and runners up, shall receive medals for their swimmers.
80.e (v) The corresponding winners of the Minor Finals shall receive:-
(i) The A. Fennell Trophy for the overall winning team. Points scored for the Cannon Relay shall count for this award.
(ii) The winning club, and runners up, shall receive medals for their swimmers.
These four finals are only valid if 12 or more enter.
For any heat: Association will provide Referee/Starter. The Judges and Recorders will be provided by the Contestants.
Finals: Association will provide Referee, Starter, Judges and Recorders.
